January 2025 News Report
We are still running at this time with winter fish showing up, but no Cod yet!
Silver Whiting, Pouts, Dogs and Conger eels making up most of the captures, Bull Huss and thornback rays being the larger fish.
2024 weather being East/ North East most of the year curtailed a few trips.
Looking forward to better weather this year, Mackerel should be about at Easter this year as the later date in April should see the early fish around! Numbers have declined last year, but the size of fish was better. The Tope and Smoothhounds catches have improved and numbers and size are up on previous years.
The best Tope weight 45lbs, and Smooth hound at 17lbs, all tagged and released.
We have seen Blue Finn Tuna, jumping in our area, and Dad went down to Looe in Cornwall, where he recorded two at about 200lbs each, all recorded and released in the water without boating.
He also this season caught his personal best Bass at 12.5lbs (see photo below).
So fishing prospects for the coming season are looking good, with hopefully a better Summer. Our local anglers list is growing, so book early for trips.
To be a regular angler, leave your number and which trips suit you midweek or weekend trips, we will then text you with the next available trip.
Tight Lines, Adam.
